International Womens Day 2019
More than 70 chamber members and their guests recently came together to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019.
The spirit of the occasion was captured by Tameka Bramwell from event sponsor Bramwell Partners. Tameka reflected on the achievements of all women particularly through her experience as both a female business owner and working in a male dominated industry.
The breakfast was BNCC's first signature event of 2019 and formed part of global celebrations for International Women’s Day which this year embraced the theme #balanceforbetter.
Guest speaker Claudette Laidlaw, from Share the Dignity, spoke passionately about the incredible work her organisation does to collect
thousands of pads, tampons and personal hygiene products for women experiencing homelessness and poverty.
The event raffle raised more than $500 for Share the Dignity with attendees also donating personal hygiene products on the day.
Rounding out the celebrations was a special certificate presentation from the chamber to young Ava Withers. Ava has started a local recycling business and is raising funds for a number of charities including Share the Dignity.
Congratulations Ava!
